Profile

Stefan Willerstorfer Designer

I was born in Vienna (Austria) in 1979 and I studied design in Austria, in the Netherlands and in England. In The Hague (NL), at the Royal Academy of Art (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten – KABK), I completed the Type Design course »Type and Media« with a Master of Design degree (MDes). At the University of Reading (UK) I completed the course in Information Design with a Master of Arts degree (MA), with Distinction.
The design of and with type, as well as the design of corporate designs and of publications where typography plays a major role (books, forms, catalogues, magazines, newspapers, etc.) are my great passion.

Designing

I live and work in Vienna as an independent designer. My activities reach from various type design and graphic design projects to freelance work at the studio of the worldwide active newspaper designer, Prof. Rolf Rehe (Design Research International, Vienna). I contributed to projects for the following national and international clients in the media industry: Axel Springer AG, Styria Medien AG (Vecernji list, Zagreb), Mittelbadische Presse (Offenburger Tageblatt), Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung, Oberösterreichische Nachrichten, and Hessische Allgemeine.

Teaching

I have been teaching »Design and Typography« at the Höhere Graphische Bundeslehranstalt in Vienna since September 2009. Furthermore I have given classes and lectures at the University of Reading (R. Summer School, UK), at the University of Applied Sciences Joanneum in Graz (Austria), at the Master Class of the Höhere Graphische Bundeslehranstalt in Vienna and at the Advertising and Design Academy of WIFI Tirol in Innsbruck (Austria).
